Wellbeing at Thistle

Camila and Chibale are our Wellbeing Champions – playing a crucial role in the promotion and support of a culture of wellbeing in the workplace.

Camila and Chibale serve as liaisons between the management and employees here at Thistle Care Solutions – ensuring that wellbeing initiatives are effectively communicated, implemented and sustained.

Our Wellbeing Champions aim to Advocate, Educate and Support!

What have our champions been up to?
Following the appointment of Camila and Chibale as Wellbeing Champions for Falkirk, they then completed the Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) Course which trained them to provide initial support and guidance for any of our peers facing mental health difficulties. The curriculum covered various topics including recognizing signs of mental distress, active listening techniques, de-escalation strategies and referral pathways to professional help.

Three months into their Wellbeing Champions roles they managed to bring the staff in for a coffee hour as a way of fostering connection and promoting wellbeing within the organisation. This informal gathering helped provide an opportunity for employees to come together, unwind and engage in meaningful conversations outside of a typical work setting. We believe that this has had a positive impact on employee morale and look forward to many more of these events happening.

To help ensure that the hard work of our staff  is not going unnoticed, invites have been sent out to staff for them to enjoy a monthly massage on the company! This was part of our ongoing commitment to prioritising employee wellbeing and also provide staff with a well-deserved break from their busy schedules with an opportunity to relax, rejuvenate and recharge physically and mentally.

Looking ahead?
Whilst continuously evaluating and refining our wellbeing programmes based on feedback and evolving needs, this is what we are hoping for through 2024;

  • Family BBQ – extend an invitation to staff and their families for a BBQ at the park, encouraging bonding and creating a sense of community beyond the workplace.
  • Financial Planning Support – offer resources and assistance for financial planning to help alleviate stress and promote financial wellness among our employees.
  • Game Night – organize a fun game night for staff to unwind and enjoy each other’s company outside of work hours.
  • Trampoline Park – arrange a visit to a trampoline park for a unique and enjoyable team-building experience, promoting physical activity and team cohesion.
  • Fun Afternoon (board games) – host a laid-back afternoon filled with board games, providing an opportunity for staff to relax and connect in a casual setting.
  • Well-Being Talks – organize a series of talks where staff can share their personal stories related to mental health, fostering understanding, empathy, and support within the workplace.
